When a customer brings an old or damaged painting to my studio they know I will breathe back the life into their beloved treasure. It is not a simple case of understanding materials once used by known or unknown artists, but also about reading and analysing the work. I then re-build missing texture and lovingly imitate the ways of the painter in question.

Years of working for an agency, copying old masters stands me in good sted to re-capture the spirit of the paintings. Over many years I have had the honour to restore hundreds of beautiful works of art, from horses by J F Herring to portraits and landscapes by Gainsborough and Constable as well as many other well and lesser known artists. My interest is in all works of art, either painted by an amatuer family relative or a collectable artist of renown. Sentimental value or worth thousands of pounds; to me the challenge is the same!

The cleaning and restoration of works of art demands many skills and expertise applied with great patience and although the results often appear magical I'm afraid there is no magic involved. None of the work need be outragiously expensive as some restorers and institutions lead us to believe.

I have acquired over thirty years experience in the restoration of oil and acrylic paintings, gilding and repairs to ornate frames and never have I demanded more than a fair days pay for a fair days work, so please do not be put off by thinking this work will cost a fortune. I am interested in the works of art and all the work is carried out by myself from start to finish. You will be given a written quotation in advance and kept informed about the progress along the way.
